Budweiser Budvar
This is the original Czech lager of this name, with a long history peppered more recently with legal battles against the American corporation responsible for a lager of a similar name. Let's not beat about the bush: the original Czech version is a lot nicer. The Saaz hops impart a very delicate aroma, noticeable beneath the more obvious vanilla notes. On the palate, it is soft, smooth and slightly bitter, again with underlying vanilla, plus some grassy Saaz hop character. Aftertaste is subtle, lingering and slightly bitter. Altogether, this makes a refreshing and very drinkable lager, definitely qualifying as a session beer - to enjoy it at its best you should drink it cold.

Baltika
Aroma on opening is sweet malt and some hops with a touch of alcohol. Colour is golden with a pure white head which settles down to a small layer of loose foam fairly quickly. Immediate flavour is malt with some dry bitterness and a little sharpness. The hoppiness offsets the strength quite well

Liefmans Kriekbier
This is a beer flavoured with cherries, It is quite sharp on the nose, with obvious cherries, some banana and an effervescent, sherbety touch, almost like a wheat beer, it is refreshing and complex.

The classic lager with which to put a slice of lime in your bottle, 'Corona' is a refreshing, crisp and slightly sweet lager. Not too fizzy, best drunk well chilled and with a pleasing aftertaste.
