The Grey Horse pub is one
of the oldest public houses in the region, dating back over
150 years. Originally called the Target Inn, the pub is now
under the management of Cath and Colin who pride themselves
on their warm welcome and hospitality.
The Grey Horse specialises in REAL ALES, Currently 3 ales are
been brewed on site in the New Consett Ale Works brewery, Red Dust, White Hot
and Steel Town, this list will soon be expanding and there are always a host
of guest ales available for your tasting pleasure as well.
Come rain or shine you can always be asured
of a warm welcome in either our Lounge or Bar area, both with
open log fires, which are especially welcoming in winter.
We like to class ourselves as a classic REAL
ALE pub, which means if you like Juke box music and MTV this
is not the place for you, if however you like a nice relaxing
drink and fine conversation with welcoming people then come
on in and enjoy.....
We do have music nights however, every Thursday
night, but again we do not go for bands and loud music, we
take the more sedate route down accoustic sessions with local
Folk artists, violins and Guitars, and even an Ukulele (Or
15)...
Once a month we hold an OPEN MIC NIGHT, again
on a Thursday night, where all are welcome. These nights are
on a first come, first served order, and are very popular,
so if you consider yourself a budding musician, pop along on
one of these nights and show us what you can do....
Every Wednesday night we hold a fun quiz night,
where again all are welcome, entry is only £1 per team (or entry)
and you can win drinks vouchers and bottles of wine if you
are clever enough.. Free snacks are also available on the night
for anyone who enters the quiz, so come on, what have you got
to loose, come and give it a go... |
